One evening, a mysterious boy
arrived in a little unfriendly town

where they sent him off to live alone
in an old and empty home.

Then seasons passed and time flew by
and no one saw the peculiar little fellow . . . .

So no one noticed how much he grew

and no one saw all the wonderful things
he made

and no one knew that above all
else the boy wished for a friend.

But the time alone had made
him just as shy as a child could be.

He wiggled and wobbled
and stuttered and stammered
when he practiced his “How-do-you-do?”

Still, he tied on a tie
and he marched off to school . . . .
